There’s no question that social media is excellent for reaching your target audience and growing your business. However, manually managing all aspects of your social media strategy can also be time-consuming and expensive.
ChatGPT is a versatile generative AI-powered tool that can save you time and help boost sales and engagement across social media.
Today, I’ll show you 5 powerful ways ChatGPT can make your social media marketing strategy manageable and accessible. I’ll also go over a list of quick tips that you can use to get more value from your interactions with this tool
Let’s get started!
Before we look at actionable ways you can use AI for social media marketing, let’s talk about a few specific benefits that come with this strategy:
As you can see, using artificial intelligence programs with your existing social media strategy has plenty of benefits. There’s a very good reason why 33% of marketers not using AI say they plan on making the switch in the coming months.
Now, it’s time to explore several powerful ways you can start using ChatGPT to expand your reach and create a well-rounded user experience on social media.
The first and perhaps most impressive way you can use ChatGPT is as a tool to design campaigns around your goals. Many of us get caught up in the details when deciding how to promote a product, enhance brand awareness, or increase overall engagement, which can slow us down and cost extra time and resources.
If you use the right prompts, it’s much easier to uncover a clear path to your goals.
Since brand awareness is a major pain point, regardless of your industry, let’s look at an example where I asked it to develop a brand awareness strategy for an email marketing company.
I liked what it said, but I wanted more details. So, I asked it to provide me with a weekly plan for implementing some of these tips. Here’s what I got:
The key to getting this strategy to work for you is to spend time going back and forth with ChatGPT so it can understand who you are and what you’d like to achieve. It might not get it right the first time, and that’s okay! If you’re willing to work with this program, you can use it in combination with your ideas to develop some excellent campaigns that will help you reach long-term goals.
You may be surprised to learn that ChatGPT can help you create eye-catching captions for social media images and paid advertisements. Beyond traditional blurbs, it can also identify potential hashtags and emojis that you can use to capture your audiences’ attention.
In my experience, you have to be detailed and let it know the purpose of your image. If you’re vague, the program has a lot of room for interpretation, which means the results may not be what you were expecting.
If you want a caption for a paid ad, tell ChatGPT about your ad, target audience, and goal, and ask it to create a caption to go with your promotion. This strategy is a great way to build rapport and connect with new customers, especially when you consider that 130 million people tap on paid Instagram advertisements each month.
Here’s an example where I asked it to create a caption for an image featuring a fictional product called “Ray’s Extreme Spicy Ramen.” The results were impressive, to say the least.
Bonus tip: You can also use our AI caption tool to get similar results!
Many businesses use chatbots on their website as a way to lessen the workload of their support team and speed up customer wait times, which is pivotal for improving user satisfaction.
If you teach your team how to use ChatGPT to help them with customer questions, comments, or complaints on social media, you can create a smoother, streamlined experience for your audience, regardless of where and how they decide to engage with your brand.
Let’s look at a few examples where this could come in handy.
Here’s a response to the simple prompt, “A customer reached out and said their delivery didn’t arrive on time. Can you help me come up with a good response?”
You can also ask it to create personalized responses. Check out the answer to this prompt: “A customer named Larry reached out on a social media post and said he loved our product, “Ray’s Extreme Spicy Ramen. “Can you come up with a personalized response?”
Pretty amazing, right? I suggest creating a list of prompts that your customer service team can copy and paste when needed so they can get nearly instantaneous responses.
I encourage teaching your team that it’s perfectly fine, and in most cases preferred, to modify the output presented by ChatGPT. Use this tool as a guiding factor on your support journey, not the sole resource.
If you want one more reason to consider using AI to assist with social media support, consider this: around 59% of all online shoppers say they’ve turned to social media when they want inspiration when deciding what to buy next. Often, this involves them reaching out to the company before placing an order.
Another clever way to use ChatGPT is as a tool for designing polls and asking engaging questions.
You can quickly and easily brainstorm an interactive poll for your social media followers by typing in a simple prompt like this; “I’d like to poll my audience on their biggest email marketing pain points. Please help me come up with a short poll with multiple-choice answers.”
As you can see, despite not getting into too many details, ChatGPT did an excellent job helping me come up with questions and answers that will ultimately benefit the business and our customers.
You can take it a step further by honing in on one subset of your niche or audience segment. Polls and surveys are an excellent way to learn about your audience and improve your marketing efforts, especially on social media, so this is one tip you don’t want to miss!
ChatGPT can also help you come up with a ton of ideas for repurposing content for social media.
Repurposing is the process of shaping an existing piece of content into something new. For example, you could turn a blog post into an interactive video or ebook.
This strategy is a powerful way to connect with your audience without being forced to create new content from scratch for each platform. In the long run, this will save your marketing and content team time and ensure your brand has a diverse mix of content for people based on their preferences.
If you’re wondering about the effectiveness of repurposing, consider this: there’s a good reason 82% of marketers claim to successfully repurpose on-site blog posts for social media!
Now that you understand the value of repurposing content, let’s check out a prompt. I typed in, “I wrote a blog post on the top 10 spiciest peppers. How can I repurpose this post specifically for social media?” Despite the generalized prompt, I was given this in return:
As you can see, this list is packed with new and creative ways to turn my post on spicy peppers into something new. You can achieve similar results if you use prompts that match your products and the theme of your content. I suggest adding more details so you can uncover hyper-personalized ways to reach your social media audience with repurposed content.
The last thing I want to do today is go through some rapid-fire tips that will help you improve your interactions with ChatGPT. I’ve found that keeping the following in mind will help speed up the process and allow you to get even more value from this handy AI tool.
Now that you know how to use ChatGPT to boost social media engagement and sales, the only thing left to do is get started!
You’ll uncover plenty of other unique tips and tricks on your journey, especially if you use AI consistently. Despite all the time I’ve spent with this tool, I learn something new every day.
